The Interim Airport Director at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is Angie Spear, previously the director of Fairbanks International Airport (FAI). The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities promoted Spear to succeed former lieutenant governor Craig Campbell, who announced his retirement in February after two years as ANC airport director.

Spear has been with FAI since 2005, starting as the Marketing, Communications, and Air Service Development Manager. In 2012, she became Deputy Director, and she has been Director since 2018. During her tenure FAI expanded passenger service by more than 30 percent.

Spear’s career reflects a commitment to excellence in airport administration, with a focus on enhancing operations, improving customer service, and fostering strategic development initiatives. Her focused, team-centric approach has been instrumental in driving growth and innovation within the Alaska International Airport System. Spear says she is grateful for the opportunity to assist ANC through this transition.

June 2024
Welcome to the June 2024 issue, which features our annual Transportation Special Section. We've paired it this year with a focus on the Pacific Northwest and Hawai'i, as Alaska has close ties to both that reach far beyond lines of transportation. Even further out past our Pacific Ocean compatriots and our Canadian neighbors to the east, Alaska's reach extends to India and Singapore. Enjoy this issue that explores many of Alaska's far-flung business dealings.
