Beer and Bacon Festival

Brewers from across Southcentral Alaska are gearing up with local restaurants to share their best local brews and gourmet bacon dishes at the seventh annual Beer and Bacon Festival at The Lakefront Anchorage. On Saturday, July 27, 1,000 bacon and beer lovers are expected to turn out for this event.

The festival will be held from 1-6 p.m. outside the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel in Spenard, overlooking Lake Hood. Festivalgoers can vote for their favorite brew and bacon dish, participate in a bacon-eating contest to vie for the title of Bacon King or Queen, enjoy live music from Alaska’s very own Blackwater Railroad Company, play lawn games and more.

This year, the festival is partnering with Covenant House Alaska to donate a portion of its proceeds to help provide housing and supportive services for youth facing homelessness.

“Hundreds of homeless, runaway and trafficked youth come in and out of our doors each month,” said Covenant House Alaska Executive Director Alison Kear. “The proceeds from the festival will help each of them get one step closer to the long-term support they need and continue on a path to create the best version of themselves.”

An officially sanctioned event by the Brewer’s Guild of Alaska, some of the participating breweries this year include Alaskan Brewing Company, 49th State Brewing Company, Kodiak Island Brewery, Midnight Sun Brewing Company, Glacier Brewhouse Brewery, Matanuska Brewing, Odd Man Rush Brewing, Girdwood Brewing Company, Denali Brewing Company, Broken Tooth Brewing, Turnagain Brewing, Kenai River Brewing, Bear Paw Brewing, Kassik’s Brewery, King Street Brewing Company and Resolution Brewing. Double Shovel and Alaska Ciderworks return with cider creations that are always popular. Some of the participating restaurants include Bread and Brew, Sweet Caribou, Midnight Sun, Humpy’s, The Pubhouse, NANA Management Services, Phat Kid, Glacier Brewhouse, and Matanuska Brewing.

Event sponsors of the 2019 Beer & Bacon Festival are the Brewer’s Guild of Alaska, Alaskan Brewing Company, iHeartMedia, Cocoa Cola Bottling of Alaska, Green Alaska Solutions and Tyson Meats.
