I Want You! A Supervisor’s Guide to Effective Interviewing and Selection

More often than not, new supervisors think “time in grade” equates to “quality” in applicants. But before long, they realize the applicant may have done the work for years but still hadn’t mastered the competencies needed to do the job well. This four-hour class highlights behavioral and technical competencies and presents a variety of interviewing techniques and assessments that ascertain whether or not an applicant will be successful in the job and the organization.

Learning Objectives:
Identify and articulate the behavioral or technical competencies needed for success in any of his/ her direct report positions;
Execute a variety of “tests” to flush out whether the applicant has a high probability of success;
Understand the value of and execute informative references;
Clearly articulate to non-selected applicants why they were not selected.
