The Alaska Native corporation for the Aleutian Islands region is standing up its environmental consulting team as a dedicated Alaska-based subsidiary. Aleut Environmental Consulting (AEC) had operated since 2021 as part of Aleut’s federal business arm. The corporation says the reorganization positions AEC to provide enhanced regional alignment—working closely with tribal partners, village corporations, and local stakeholders while continuing to serve federal, state, and commercial clients.

Specialized Firm with Shared Strength

AEC is an Anchorage-based environmental consulting firm providing full lifecycle environmental services, including consulting, remediation, and technical services across Alaska and the Pacific Rim. Aleut says operating AEC as a wholly owned subsidiary enables it to operate with the responsiveness of a specialized consulting firm while benefiting from Aleut’s shared services, financial strength, and enterprise support.

“Aleut Environmental Consulting’s evolution as an Alaska-based subsidiary is an important step forward in our long-term growth strategy,” says Aleut President and CEO Skoey Vergen. “By aligning this experienced team under a dedicated Alaska-based subsidiary, we are strengthening our ability to support projects in our region, create career pathways for Alaskans, and deliver lasting value for our shareholders and the communities we serve.”

AEC staff have performed site investigation and characterization, remediation and restoration, spill response, waste management, construction and decommissioning support, and regulatory services such as Phase I and II environmental site assessments.

“Our focus at AEC is delivering high-quality environmental services while building strong regional partnerships,” says AEC General Manager Jennifer Anderson. “As an Alaska-based team within the Aleut family of companies, we are proud to work alongside tribes, village corporations, and local partners to support projects that benefit our lands, our people, and future generations.”
