Aleut Ventures Rebrands to Reflect New Opportunities
Aleut HQ in Anchorage.
Refining the identity of Aleut, the Alaska Native corporation for the region south and west of Bristol Bay, extends beyond the top level. All year, the corporation has been shedding its former branding as The Aleut Corporation and abbreviation, TAC, to align with its simple mononymous logo. Now its fuel logistics and facility management subsidiary is rebranding as well: Aleut Enterprise is becoming Aleut Ventures.
Part of an Overall Effort
The transformation reflects the company’s alignment across two key industries: travel and operations, in Adak and Cold Bay. The change marks a significant step forward in expanding economic opportunities for the Aleut region and its 4,200 shareholders.
Communications Manager Samantha Chimkix̂ Mack says company leaders have adopted the use of “Aleut” over “TAC” this year to support the overall rebranding to better reflect the corporation’s vision and mission.
“There’s an ongoing nuanced discussion amongst shareholders about the use of ‘Aleut’ versus ‘Unangax̂’ to refer to ourselves as Alaska Native peoples, and the retirement of ‘TAC’ ultimately creates more space for us to account for both ‘Aleut’ and ‘Unangax̂’ in the way we talk about the corporation: ‘We Are Aleut. Together, We Are Unangax̂,’” Mack says.
Rebranding as Aleut Ventures doesn’t change the subsidiary’s main functions, including fueling operations for aviation and marine vessels and promoting Adak Island as an adventure destination. Aleut Ventures is also uniquely positioned to offer fueling and support to global shipping along the Great Circle Route of the North Pacific.
“Aleut Ventures is about more than just providing services—it’s about creating new possibilities in a region rich with history and opportunity,” says Aleut Ventures General Manager Chase Berenson. “Our focus on enhancing the travel experience in Adak and continuing to provide essential operational services in both Adak and Cold Bay reflects our dedication to ensuring a bright future for the region. We’re thrilled to move forward under this new brand.”
The rebrand introduces a new visual identity that symbolizes the company’s deep connection to the Aleut region and its commitment to sustainable growth. The image of a mountain is central to the Aleut Ventures logo, rising from the sea as a symbol of strength and resilience. The mountain iconography, carried through from Aleut’s logo, reflects the determination of the Unangax̂ people, intertwined with the landscape of the Aleutian Islands.
Aleut President and CEO Skoey Vergen says, “The rebranding of Aleut Ventures signals our focus on innovation, growth, and shareholder value. Aleut Ventures is positioned to lead in industries that are critical to the development of the Aleut region, and this new identity better captures the strength of our vision and commitment to our Unangax̂ shareholders.”
