HDR Promotes Alaska Operations Manager
Nebraska-based architecture, engineering, and construction firm HDR appointed Anna Kohl, a twenty-year veteran of the company, as its new Alaska Operations Manager. Main focuses of her role are to support and elevate technical excellence and client relationships.
A born and raised Alaskan, Kohl says she is looking forward to her part in HDR providing local careers in the consulting industry. “I am honored to lead HDR’s program in Alaska,” she says. “Working with clients and exceptional colleagues to progress responsible and often cutting-edge infrastructure development projects in my home state has been an incredible journey. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support our clients, communities, and employee-owners as Alaska’s operational lead. I am optimistic for the future of Alaska and HDR’s role in making great things possible.”
Kohl takes over for Matt Stone, an engineer in HDR’s Anchorage office who was recently promoted to Global Highways Director. “I am absolutely thrilled to congratulate Anna on stepping into the role of Alaska Operations Manager for HDR,” says Stone. “Her outstanding leadership, vision, and deep passion for Alaska make her the perfect choice to guide our efforts in supporting our clients in delivering more efficient transportation networks, improved access to resources, and resilient infrastructure. Under her leadership, HDR will continue to provide the technical expertise needed to improve safety, support economic development, and enhance the quality of life for all Alaskans.”
Kohl is a certified environmental professional and has led dozens of successful projects for public and private sector clients through permitting and regulatory processes. She also co-led an internal employee mentoring program, implemented the company’s strategic plan, and annually organized in-office teams to participate in local charity races.
Outside HDR, Kohl chairs the board of the Alaska Association of Environmental Professionals, she is a trustee and secretary of the Academy of Board-Certified Environmental Professionals, and she is a member of the National Association of Environmental Professionals, the Society of American Military Engineers, and the Alaska Geological Society. In 2024, she was added to the board of directors of the Resource Development Council for Alaska.
