Matson Gets New Top Executive for Alaska

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center near Portage received a $250,000 grant from shipping firm Matson to fund an Ocean Education Center on the shore of Turnagain Arm.
“The little-known fact for most people is that recycling is possible in Alaska through the generosity of private companies,” explains Anita Nelson, executive director of the nonprofit Alaskans for Litter Prevention and Recycling.
The donation will fund, in part, the construction of a new, interactive discovery pools exhibit called the Rocky Coast Touch Pool.
“It is important to remember our veterans and their families during the holidays and to thank them for their sacrifices,” says Bal Dreyfus, Matson’s Senior Vice President, Alaska.
With a shipment of PPE ready to be shipped from Anchorage, Matson donated shipping services to prevent influx of COVID-19 cases on Kodiak Island.
